Try installing WineBottler It's a nice frontend for Wine (which it brings with) and can package your game into a nice little.app.

I am sure I'm not the first one who wants to play FO in OS X and I am more sure that I won't be the last one. I've tried hundreds of times to play the original game on mac but failed. And I succeeded with GOG version, even applied the unofficial patches. If you're interested in it, I will share my experience with you.As I'm using wine to do it, I found this thread very useful to me,However, it's much easier on mac than on linux.1.
Let's get wineskin,The engine should be WS9Wine 1.95, and the wrapper version should be 2.6.22. Create a new blank wrapper, and ignore the warning messages asking you to download or install any components like 'frameworks' or other things.3. When wrapper is created, view it in finder, and right-click on it, view the contents, then double-click the Wineskin.app in it.4. Install software, my suggestion is to 'copy a folder inside', and the folder should be 'GOG Games'.(Of course, you must have the GOG version of the game in it)And then wine will auto select a.exe for game playing, to avoid any mistakes, you can click 'advanced' to make sure the.exe is correct, they should be,/Program Files/GOG Games/Fallout/FALLOUTW.exeor/Program Files/GOG Games/Fallout 2/FALLOUT2.EXEIf you only want to play the official game, now it's done. You can even change the logo of the wineskin app, just to make it looks better and/or make yourself proud at it.And if you want to play the modded games with the great unofficial patches, we need to do more.1. Downloaded the patches, better the installer (.exe).2. View the contents of the game wrapper in finder, and double click 'drive C', then drag the installer of patch in it.3.

Double-click wineskin.app, then 'Advanced', and use 'Browse' to change the.exe to the installer of patch. If you put the installer in C:/, it should be like,/FalloutFixt0.81alphaFIXESONLY.exe(if you are playing FO1, of course)4. Test run, and install the patch as you do in Windows.5. It's not 100% necessary for game playing, but I strongly suggest that you set the resolution now. Change the.exe to f1resConfig.exe, it should be,/Program Files/GOG Games/Fallout/Fallout Fixt/f1resConfig.exe(Please note the position of f1resConfig.exe depends on where you installed the patch)And then test run, select the resolution you like.
It's very important that you must change the setting in 'Graphics' from 'Basic' to 'Directx 9', otherwise the game speed could be very slow.6. Change the.exe to the correct one for game playing, like,/Program Files/GOG Games/Fallout/Fallout Fixt/FALLOUTW.exe(Please note the position of FALLOUTW.exe depends on where you installed the patch)That's all for Fallout 1.For Fallout2, you need to do one more thing.7. View the contents of wrapper and double click Wineskin.app (for how many times we've done this?), then 'Advanced', then 'Tools', then click 'Config utility (winecfg)', and in the window, click 'Libraries', and type ddraw as a 'New override for library', click 'add'. Then 'apply' and 'OK'.And that's it.If you have any questions, feel free to ask me.Any criticisms will be welcomed, especially those for my English grammar. To all en' sundry,to get the most easy+straight-forward install on MAC OSX. Do so using WINESKIN I have the latest WINESKIN Vs Installed on the latest MAC OSX El Capitan 10.11.6: it gives the fullestmost satisfying installplay experience.
Particularly without 'Slow-Game Speed-Stuttering' (Inc' Child-Fix & High-Res Patch) the funnest+bestest & only way to play Fallout 1 (with all latest updates, etc);over the past 15 years I have tried umpteen wayscountless nights of hair-pulling failed & frustrating at installing Fallout 1 + even Fallout 2 on many differing OS's Platforms Vs+FATs of both Windows+Linux+ most recently MAC. All of which failed miserablybut; lo & behold, along came this most excellent 'Fallout 1 FixT 0.81a FULL Custom (updated Jan 27 2016).so if anyone is still unsure please do use the method as layed out above VIA WINESKIN. You really do not need to look any furtherjust, please, do not be tempted into 'tweaking' said FixT above with any other mod OR patch; 'if it aint broke dont fix it'.keep on truck'nThomas Ffobbs.
First of all thanks for taking the time to read/answer this. I had already downloaded fallout 2 on my mac some years ago through illicit means (imma pirate:D) and it worked perfectly well, after awhile I got bored and removed it.
Now I just downloaded fallout 1/2/tactics through gog and the opposite seems to be occurring. In fallout 1 the cursor has a mind of its own, it was flying around everywhere at the slightest movement of the mouse, so I lowered my mouse's sensitivity to its lowest possible. What I have now is a a very slow and somehow spastic cursor.
It lacks any finesse making gameplay slow and all around unfun. The same thing occurs in fallout 2 to some degree (not superslow but still super boring).I used to use a different mouse when I first played fallout 2 but then I then a changed to a wireless mouse that worked with a drawing pad. After seing how badly the cursor moved, I used an older model of the Mac mouse but the nothing really changed.
Could it perhaps be an issue with the mouse?.Both fallout1/2 are very slow. At least when they run, it looks like my character suffers from some sort of muscle atrophy when running, making it eternal to move anywhere. What advice could you guys offer me?Once again thank you very much for reading/answering, your parents must be proud of you. TwitchyRacoon.Once again thank you very much for reading/answering.

After downloading the Microsoft Visual C 6.0 Redistributable, you end up with a file named Vs6sp6.exeThis can be opened with a decompression software to see its content (7zip is able to do so).Inside you'll find a file named vcredist.exe.Extract this to your hard disk and again open it with a decompression software.Inside you'll find the needed msvcp60.dll fileExtract it to your hard drive (you can delete the latter two files now, as msvcp60.dll is all you need)Now move the msvcp60.dll into.wine/drivec/windows/systemThe Hi-Res patch won't work without this file.
Once it does, you can configure it by editing the f1res.ini.You'll find the file inside your Fallout package.Open the ini-file with an text editor and set GRAPHICSMODE=1. I don't know its not working. I've downloaded 2 versions of 7zip and neither is able to decompress the file. I'll let you know if it works, thanks:) Hey, thanks for the helpful instructions but whenever I try to run any of the Hi-Res.exe files or the Vs6sp6.exe file I just get a message saying that 'Microsoft Windows applications are not supported on OS X'. I'm running OS X Mavericks too so I'm pretty sure that I cannot find a workaround to run the Hi Res packs.
I was able to get Killap's unofficial patch to work for FO2 (doesn't fix nearly all the bugs but it's still better than running vanilla FO2) but that's as much luck as I've ever had with mods/patches for Fallout on Mac OS X. Mimsi: Hey, thanks for the helpful instructions but whenever I try to run any of the Hi-Res.exe files or the Vs6sp6.exe file I just get a message saying that 'Microsoft Windows applications are not supported on OS X'. Please read the posts above, you can't run these Windows executables (except within Wine), but have to open them with a decompression software (like 7zip). Decompress the files you need and copy them into the Fallout folder.Unfortunately I can't provide a step-by-step at the moment, as I don't have a Mac here right now.
